Nice to meet you. I’m Fukaya, a B4 student! Starting this year, I’ll be actively engaged in research activities at the laboratory. I look forward to working with you!

Along with Kanayama-san and B4 student Kitagawa, the three of us participated in the Combustion Summer School held at Seika University in China. This event, held annually, featured lectures by Professor Chung K. Law, a leading authority in combustion, and Professor Henry J. Curran of Galway University, developer of the widely used Aramco mech for combustion simulation. Over five very enriching days, we not only learned about combustion but also gained insights into research methodologies and the mindset of researchers.

Especially for the two B4 students, this was our first business trip and our first time abroad, so we were a bit anxious. However, we managed to complete it safely without major issues! One challenge we faced was that many places in China only accepted QR code payments through local apps, which made getting drinks quite difficult. Nevertheless, we were touched by the kindness of locals who treated us to coffee and offered us some extra service at stores, helping us get through the trip.

We will apply what we learned this time to our future research endeavors and strive forward.
