The 62nd National Heat Transfer Symposium/HTSJ International Heat Transfer Symposium
2025.5.19
Hello!
This is Fukaya, a first-year master’s student (M1).
From May 14 to 17, I participated in the 62nd Japan Symposium on Heat Transfer held in Okinawa. From our lab, I—Fukaya, an M1 student—gave an oral presentation. At the venue, I also had the opportunity to meet Mr. Kitagawa (also an M1) from the Nakamura Lab, Dr. Kanayama, a postdoctoral researcher, and Mr. Akiba, one of our lab alumni.
This was my first time giving an oral presentation at a conference. Thanks to the daily guidance from my seniors and professors, I didn’t feel too nervous—at least on the surface. However, I must have been anxious deep down, because I ended up speaking a bit too quickly, and my presentation finished about 30 seconds earlier than usual. I’ll make sure to apply what I learned from this experience to my next presentation, so I can deliver an even better talk next time!
Also, it was my first time receiving questions about my research from people outside our lab. Since our lab—and I personally—place a strong emphasis on the fundamental aspects of combustion in our research, it was very insightful to learn which points stood out to researchers working on more practical combustion systems.
