The 63rd Symposium (Japanese) on Combustion

2025.11.20

Hello! This is Fukaya, an M1 student.
I attended the 63rd Combustion Symposium, held from November 5 to 7 at PACIFICO Yokohama North in Yokohama City.
From our laboratory, Dr. Morii, Ms. Miyazaki, Mr. Moriyama, Mr. Nishiyama, myself, Mr. Kaneko, and Mr. Suzuki gave oral presentations.
In addition, Professor Maruta delivered a lecture at the Young Researchers’ Workshop.
This year, including a fourth-year undergraduate student, six students presented at the conference.
Despite having an undergraduate among us, everyone gave confident and clear presentations.
As for myself, I spoke rather quickly during my presentation, so I felt that I need to learn from everyone’s talks—senior and junior alike—and aim for better presentations in the future.
In the sessions I attended, there were many talks on alternative fuels (ammonia and hydrogen), which have become popular in recent years. Since I have recently started working on these fuels myself, I found the presentations very interesting.
The evening networking event for young researchers was held at an Italian restaurant. Perhaps that’s because Yokohama is a port city?
The pizza and wine were excellent, but since I had a presentation the next day, my only regret was not being able to enjoy more wine.
Now, the end of 2025 is approaching.
Looking back on my three years from undergraduate to master’s, I’ve already passed the halfway point.
I want to continue my research so that I have no regrets.
